What is 5G and How Can You Use It?

5G is now available across the country! Popular network carriers like AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile, claim it to be the best, fastest, and strongest network yet, all you need to jump on the bandwagon is a smartphone that supports 5G.

But in reality, the grass isn’t as green as they portray in advertisements. Verizon and AT&T’s nationwide 5G networks are slow, and a good connection on Verizon’s network is hard to find.

All of this may change over the next two years as network companies promise big speed boosts and a smoother experience, especially for people who already own 5G phones.

One of the most revolutionary 5G features comes from new frequencies known as the C-band that were auctioned off to Verizon AT&T and a few other cable companies for more than $80 billion. Although the details haven’t been made public yet, it is claimed that this will help improve 5G speed and coverage by late 2021.

Some of the very first official C-band phones include the Samsung Galaxy S21 series and the iPhone 12 series. Other flagships that are expected to support C-band are the OnePlus 9 series.

If you’re already using T-Mobile, any current phone will support their upcoming 5G updates throughout this year. For AT&T and Verizon you’ll need a phone that supports C-band to enjoy the latest 5G speeds.
